How to GET TO US
Aavameri arranges outdoor activities all around the Finnish Archipelago Sea. We have a kayak and SUP rental shed at Satava island, 15 minutes by car or bus from Turku center, but many of our tours and courses start and end at other locations around the Finnish archipelago . Places like Turku, Naantali, Pargas (Parainen), Nagu (Nauvo), Kimitoön (Kemiönsaari) are used as frequent starting points.
For activities open to everyone as bookable through our calendar, we have fixed locations (see the activity description for places and maps).
For activities and equipment rent for private groups, we arrange transportation according to demand, and choose locations according with your wishes, skill level, the weather forecasts and our knowledge about what is ideal for the activity. We arrange pick-up from the Turku airport, Turku and Kupittaa railway stations and all hotels in the Turku and Naantali region.

Aavameri works for sustainable tourism, and we do what we can to preserve our environment and nature. Please help us in this by chosing as environmentally friendly means of transportation as possible.
By flight to Turku: Take the airport bus or a taxi from Turku airport to Turku, travel time around 15 minutes.
By flight to Helsinki: Take an express bus from Helsinki airport to Turku. The bus leaves from platform / bay 13-14 each hour, and timetables can be found by pressing here. The journey takes around 2,5 hours.

By train from Helsinki: Express trains go from Helsinki to Turku each hour, travel time just under 2 hours. Press here for timetables.
By bus from Helsinki or other areas: Express buses arrive in Turku very often. Press here for timetables.
Ferries from Stockholm, Sweden: Viking Line and Tallink Silja go between Stockholm in Sweden and Turku in Finland two times a day with departures in the morning and in the evening. Travel time is around 10 hours.

KÄYTÄ AINA PELASTUSLIIVIÄ JA SUP-LAUTAILESSA AINA KARKUREMMIÄ!
Jokaisen kajakin ja SUP-laudan mukana tulee pelastusliivi. Pelastusliivit eivät kuitenkaan välttämättä sovi alle 35 kg tai yli 110 kg painavalle, ota oma pelastusliivi mukaan, jos painat alle 35 kg tai yli 110 kg! SUP-lautailussa täytyy ehdottomasti käyttää SUP-laudan karkuremmiä, sillä kaatuessasi SUP-lauta liukuu helposti pois nopeammin kuin pystyt uimaan.
Muista aina noudattaa seuraavia turvallisuusohjeita:
- Älä melo yksin, tämä ei ole koskaan yhtä turvallista kuin melominen yhdessä jonkun kanssa
- Pysy lähellä rantaa ja poissa veneiden tieltä. Jo yli 50 metrin päässä rannasta kaatuminen kajakilla on vaarallista lämpimässäkin vedessä jos et osaa tehdä syvän veden pelastuksia.
- Käyttä kajakissa aukkopeitettä vain jos olet kouluttautunut käyttään sellaista. Jos irroituskahva ei ole esillä edessäsi, aukkopeitteen avaaminen kaatuessasi voi olla hyvin vaikeata tai jopa mahdotonta
- Käytä olosuhteisiin sopivia vaatteita
- Alkoholi ja muut huumausaineet eivät ole sallittuja ennen melontaa tai sen aikana
- Älä melo pimeän jälkeen tai muutenkaan huonossa näkyvyydessä
- Harjoittele itsepelastusta ja paripelastusta ennen kuin lähdet ulos. Liity kajakki- tai SUP-lautailun peruskurssille, jos et ole osallistunut sellaiselle! Aavameren kurssit löydät täältä!
- Kerro aina ystävällesi, että olet menossa ulos melomaan, minne olet matkalla ja milloin sinun pitäisi palata. Ota aina vesitiivisti pakattu puhelin mukaasi retkelle.
